On Thursday, February 7, Trinity graduate, Vonda Ward '91, will have her number, 24, retired during a ceremony prior to the Girls Varsity Basketball game against Cleveland Central Catholic. Guests who wish to attend should arrive no later than 6:30 PM.

Vonda applied her talents to a variety of sports during her time at Trinity. She participated in Basketball, Softball, Track and Soccer, and earned 10 varsity letters in her high school career. However, it was in Basketball that she achieved the most success.

As a center on the team, Vonda accumulated an extensive array of awards. She was voted Team MVP, The Cleveland Plain Dealer Player of the Year, Ohio's Ms. Basketball and High School All-American in both her junior and senior years. She was also voted USA Today First team All-USA and Player of the Year, Parade Magazine Player of the Year and the number one college recruit in the country as a senior. During that year, Vonda helped her team win the 1990 Division II Girls Basketball State Championship, the first in school history.

After a stellar high school career, Vonda went on to the University of Tennessee where she played for one of the premiere women's college Basketball programs in the country. During that time, she was voted to the All-Southeastern Conference Academic Team each of her four years. She was also named Team Most Improved Player as a junior and Co-MVP of the 1994 Hawaii Tournament. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in Sports Management.

Following her college career, Vonda played professional basketball in Frankfurt, Germany and Denver, Colorado. In 2012, she was inducted into the Ohio Basketball Hall of Fame. After basketball, she became a professional boxer and was ranked as the number one heavyweight in the world. She currently is a personal trainer at King's Gym in Bedford Heights.
